The career of a performing artist turned mentor
Daughter of researcher in political economy Suzanne de Brunhoff and renowned pediatrician Mathieu de Brunhoff, Agnès de Brunhoff is also the granddaughter of Barber’s creator Jean de Brunhoff. It was her great uncle Michel de Brunhoff, as chief editor of Vogue France, who brought the talent of Yves St Laurent to the public’s attention.
She is also the niece of the pianist Thierry de Brunhoff.
Her rigour was acquired during her Spartan upbringing as the child of politically engaged intellectuals. Her experience on the stage enabled her to forge the tools she uses to help artists out of the deadlocks they find themselves in. Day by day, using a teaching method akin to that of a sports coach, grounded in F.M. Alexander Technique®, she imparts her idea of what is meant by commitment to work.
“Her reputation is built upon her exceptional powers of observation of both psychophysical functioning and stage presence.”

Music
A composer-author-performer as well a classically trained pianist, she has recorded three albums of her own works – Même in 2004, Avec lui in 2005 and Blues en rose in 2006 – and performed in Paris jazz clubs such as New Morning, Baiser salé, and La Maroquinerie.
Dance
In 1989 she undertook the vocal and musical coaching for choreographer Maguy Marin’s dancers in her show Eh, qu’est-ce que ça me fait à moi? in the Popes’ Palace in the Avignon Festival. She has worked with Mathieu Ganio, a danseur étoile at the Paris Opera, for a number of years, as well as the dancers of Anne-Marie Reynaud’s Four Solaire.
Film
She made her film début in 1975 at the age of 17 in René Allio’s Moi, Pierre Rivière, ayant égorgé ma mère, ma soeur et mon frère.
It was her performance in Christine Laurent’s film Alice Constant which brought her into the public’s eye in 1976.
Theater
Her acting experience continued to blossom with the Compagnie de La Grande Cuiller’s 1976 production of Macadam 4 étoiles alongside Michel Boujenah, Corinne Atlas and Paul Allio.
An unforgettable and deeply important influence on her understanding of onstage blossoming was Patrice Chéreau’s 1985 production of La fausse suivante alongside Didier Sandre, Michel Piccoli and Jane Birkin.
